An innovative approach to taking back control from chronic pain

“I am a scientist and physician with decades long chronic pain.

In this offering, I found a very readable and persuasive approach that leads the reader step by step towards relief. Chronic pain tends to gradually limit activity and constrain engagement with the world. In contrast to a primary focus on analgesic medication, Dr Campbell advocates the assault on chronic pain from a self-efficacy perspective: an active and patient-centric program with the aim of restoring quality of life and functionality, both of which in turn reduce pain perception. By understanding the language of chronic pain and taking active steps to dampen its influence, its insidious intrusion can be halted and then reversed.

The various techniques that are recommended are simple and explained in non-technical terms. Anecdotal experience is provided and readers are reassured that there are other sufferers out there who have greatly benefited from these interventions.”

This guide wilt help chronic pain sufferers regain control over their pain and function

“I am an Anesthesiologist who deals mostly with acute pain patients. Dr Campbell has written a very clear and concise summary as to how patients reach a state of chronic pain . With easy to understand explanations of the physical, neurological and psychological changes that occur over time. Changes that can leave patients in a state of despair and suffering without any easy conventional solutions. Once the readers/patients understand this, the book then offers very practical and clear guidelines that will help chronic pain sufferers and their healthcare providers, reverse the effects of these changes, so that they can regain control of their pain and especially function. In this reading. it is clear that Dr Campbell has a wealth of clinical experience and knowledge of the issues around chronic pain and its management and with this book, has offered patients and practitioners a very helpful resource to start and maintain the recovery process.”

Understand pain to Deal With pain

“Pain is an unpleasant subject to think of. It could be the reason why so many people are unaware of methods and techniques of dealing with pain. To begin with, it should be admitted that we and our loved ones Will encounter pain at some point Of our lives. It is better to be prepared and forearmed, and Dr. Trevor Campbell’s book offers some insights on how pain can be handled.

The author is not in favor Of excessive use Of painkillers, and he thinks that our instinctive response to pain (abstaining from all challenging activities) is not the most effective. His approach is based on cognitive behavior therapy. According to Dr. Campbell, we should not focus on our pain, but strive for a better life. When we practice acceptance and do our best to live meaningfully, whatever is our condition, Our condition tends to improve. Modern neurological studies prove that pain is heavily impacted by psychological factors, thereby reaffirming an Old adage that we become “masters Of our fate” by choosing to think and live a certain way.”

An excellent resource to manage and reduce chronic pain

“Dr. Campbell’s intuitive approach to pain management is empowering and a must read for anyone with chronic pain and anyone caring for and about an individual With chronic pain. In his new book, “The Language of Pain: Fast Forward Your Recovery to Stop Hurting,” Dr. Campbell draws on thirty seven years of experience working with chronic pain patients in private practice and multidisciplinary chronic pain management programs, including programs that help patients reduce and eliminate their opioid use.

With empathy and clinical expertise, he explains the dynamics of chronic pain and how the brain’s perception of pain can be reversed once the meaning of pain is understood. In a relatable and anecdotal style, he emphasizes the unique and personal stories of pain and the incredible ability that we have to rewrite these stories through easy to implement strategies and techniques, not focused solely on drugs or expensive pain management programs, to regain control, rebuild, and improve functionality and quality life. And these are essential components for cost effective and positive health outcomes for people living with chronic pain and the delivery of health care moving forward into the 21st century.”
